Lori Hudson Flanery

Lori Hudson Flanery is CEO of New Directions, a community development corporation devoted to serving individuals, families and neighbors with housing creation, preservation and management; education; and neighborhood revitalization and development.  Prior to joining New Directions Flanery spent almost thirty years at the Commonwealth of Kentucky in cabinet, legal and executive level positions in the areas of finance, economic development, housing and community development, transportation infrastructure, utility regulation, facilities management, accounting, central procurement and technology.

Flanery was named one of 25 Doers, Drivers and Dreamers by Governing Technology magazine in 2015 and also accepted The Bond Buyer’s Southeast Deal of the Year and then U.S. Deal of the Year for 2015.  In 2014 she won the Visionary Award at the Kentucky Digital Summit and helped lead that year’s Best IT Collaboration Among Organizations.

Flanery received her B.A. in English, with Honors and in the Honors Program, from the University of Kentucky in 1987 and her J.D. (top fifth of class) from UK in 1990.  She resides in the Louisville area with her husband Kevin and any combination of her adult children as they finish college and graduate school.
